B.S.A. 10 H.P. Scout motor cycle engine and front wheel drive transmission unit, mounted on forward portion of chassis frame, and equipped with front driving wheels, 1936

This is a rare example of a BSA Scout 10 h.p motor car engine and transmission unit. The BSA Scout was a type of sports/touring vehicle, introduced in 1935. Unlike other cars at the time which had rear wheel drives, this car had front wheel drive. BSA are considered to be early British pioneers of the front wheel drive technology in cars. The Scout was a two-seater car and due to good sales of the car the company introduced this 10 h.p. version, which also had a new handbrake assembly. Production of the Scout model ceased in 1939.

BSA (Birmingham Small Arms Company) was founded as weapons manufacturer in the mid-19th century. It commenced the manufacture of safety bicycles in the 1880s, motor cars in 1907 and motorcycles in 1909.
