Connaught Grand Prix racing car

1955 in Send

Connaught Grand Prix racing car, 1955, powered by an Alta 2 1/2 litre straight four engine, with twin overhead cams. The engine was designed and produced by Geoffrey Taylor (owner of the Alta Car and Engineering Company). This Connaught car did not participate in any races. However, it is identical to the car that won at the Syracuse Grand Prix on 23 October 1955. This was the race when Tony Brooks and Connaught became the first British driver and car combination to win a Grand Prix since Sir Henry Seagrove won in his Sunbeam at San Sebastian in 1924.
