In the history of motorcycling, certain designs of an advanced technical nature have appeared well before their time but have failed to come into quantity production. A typical example is the A.B.C, motorcycle designed by Granville Bradshaw in 1919. This technically progressive motorcycle incorporates an independent front and rear suspension system using leaf springing, an opposed twin-cylinder engine with a four-speed integral gearbox mounted in a cradle frame.
The engine has a bore of 69mm. and a stroke of 54mm. providing a capacity of 398 c.c. The overhead valves are set at an angle to one another in a hemispherical combustion chamber. A Claudel-Hobson carburettor and a dynamo system for lighting are provided.
