Raleigh 'Chopper' Mk2 bicycle. The Chopper is one of the most iconic children’s bicycles and was first produced in 1968. Its design resembled an American Harley Davidson motorcycle and was unlike anything on the market, its success also helped by the film ‘Easy Rider’ released in 1969. This is a Mark 2 Raleigh Chopper, first produced in 1971 in response to safety concerns, and differing most notably with un-adjustable handle-bars and a shorter seat with a warning that only one person should sit on it at a time. The Chopper Mark 2 continued to be produced until 1984. However this wasn’t the end of the Chopper, and it once again returned to shops in 2004 with the Mark 3.
