Horse-drawn box-type milk-delivery van c. 1953. Ex-United Dairies no.2334

Before iconic battery powered milk floats began to rise in popularity around the 1950s, horse drawn floats were the most common milk delivery method – dating to the mid to late 19th century when dedicated milk deliveries first began. This van delivered dairy for United Dairies, which was founded in 1915 in Wiltshire, England. United Dairies popularised pasteurised milk in the UK in the 1920s.
