Leyland Titan PD2/1 bus, 1948. Registration no. KPT 909.

The Leyland Titan is one of Leyland's most iconic and famous buses, used as the standard double-decker bus from 1947-68 before the advent of the rear engine. They first appeared on Britain’s streets in 1927 and production stopped in 1970. This is an example of the PD 2 model that was new in 1947, and even though London Transport bought over 2,000 Leyland Titans after the Second World War, this example went to work in Durham for Weardale Motor Services. It was withdrawn from service in 1970.
