stephenson's model locomotive
Model steam locomotive, 1:12 scale, built by Robert Stephenson & Co. 1827-28.
This model represents the general design of locomotive which was being made by Robert Stephenson & Co. in 1828.
It is possible that design demonstrated by the model was Robert Stephenson's first step towards simplifying his locomotives, as in January 1828 he expressed an intention to begin altering the design by applying the engine either on the side of the boiler or beneath it.
