Model of a German 'Albatros D.V.' single seater fighter, scale 1:15. The Albatros fighter was the mainstay of German air forces in World War I. It enjoyed early success after it first appeared in 1916, but by the time the DV was introduced in 1917, it was being outfought by superior allied aircraft. Although the German ace Baron Manfred von Richthofen is primarily associated with the Fokker Triplane, most of his 80 kills were obtained at the controls of an Albatros.
