A T & T national telephone directory, published by the American Telephone and Telegraph Company, United States, October 1896.
American Telephone and Telegraph was the successor to the original Bell telephone company. Despite being connected to the original telephone patents, it was just one of many telephone companies competing for business in the United States. Between 1894 and 1904, over 6000 independent telephone companies were formed.
