Sample of the 1865/66 Transatlantic Telegraph Cable, made by the Telegraph Construction and Maintenance Company Limited, Greenwich, 1865. Laid by the "Great Eastern" and recovered in the 1960s by C.S. "Lady Denison Pender". Initially described by the donor as unarmoured cable, due to the total elimination of the armouring by corrosion
