Mullard Raleigh P.M. broadcast receiver, P.F.W. Bush and various makers, England, 1927. Together with amplifier and power supply units

Mullard Raleigh P.M. broadcast receiver, P.F.W. Bush and various makers, England, 1927.

During the early years of radio broadcasting, many radio receivers were constructed by amateurs, often following instructions tested and developed by component manufacturers or by the technical staff at radio magazines. This receiver was designed in 1927 by the staff at Mullard, an electronic component and appliances manufacturer, and the instructions for its construction were published in 'Radio of the Millions' magazine that Autumn. It was constructed by P F W Bush, who spent 14 pounds 10 shillings, and 223 hours making it. It remained in use for more than 25 years with a few minor component changes.
