Pye 'Cambridge International' 11-band broadcast receiver, type PE80, made by Pye Limited, Cambridge, England, 1953.
Although television gained popularity throughout the 1950s, listening to the radio was still a popular pastime for many and radio technology had improved dramatically since broadcasting had become mainstream in the 1920s. The Cambridge International was a top of the range radio set mounted in a high quality walnut cabinet.
