This heavy duty camera equipment was used to record television pictures onto 35mm film. Before the use of video tape to record television pictures became widespread, telerecording cameras like this were used instead. They filmed directly from a television screen and captured the moving images onto film to be processed. This allowed the images to be stored for archive purposes.
