Electrical generator from Lancaster Power Station. Made by Greenwood and Batley, 1915. Specifications are 225 Kw, 440 volts, 470 ampere, 3 wire D.C.

This D.C. electrical generator was one of a pair ordered by Armstrong Vickers for the Caton Engineering Company in 1915. Together, they provided electrical power at Caton Engineering's factory during the First World War, which was producing torpedoes. After the war in 1921, the generators were transferred to Lancaster Power Station in Marton Street, before moving back to Caton Road, where they operated for over 40 years.
