Model of a Timson "Wun-up" offset litho press, 1976, (built by the apprentices of Timsons).
This is a model of a Timson Wun-Up Mk 3 offset lithographic printing press. It was built in 1976 as an end of term project by first-year apprentices in the training centre of Timsons, the Kettering-based printing machine manufacturer. The Wun-Up press, so-called because it uses one printing plate and trade mark rules forbade the use of the word 'one', was a versatile and widely used press. It found many applications in the field of printing interleaved stationery and business forms. This 1:5 scale model was acquired by the Science Museum for display in the Printing gallery, which opened in 1978.
