This is a model of NASA's first space station, Skylab, launched on 14 May 1973. The first Skylab crew spent 28 days on the space station, the second 59 days, and the third spent 84 days in space. These were each new records, with the final record not being broken for over 20 years.

The Skylab program ended on 8 February 1974 and had demonstrated for the first time that humans could live in space for prolonged periods.
