Whole model on launching ways, of the merchant ship 'Cygnet', scale 1:48.

This 1:48 scale model represents a small wooden-built clipper ship. The starboard side is unplanked, and shows the disposition of the timbers. One of the launching flags bears the name 'Cygnet' but no vessel of this name, date and size can be traced.

In addition to her single deck, the model shows a 12m poop deck, 9m forecastle, and a large deck-house in the middle of the ship. The deck fittings are unusually complete. The cabins are arranged 1m below deck level. the stern is rounded and no quarter-galleries are fitted.

Dimensions, taken from the model: Register - about 440 tons; length between perpendiculars - 43.6m; breadth - 8.8m; depth in hold - 4.6m.
