Telegraph block instrument, early Walker's type
Telegraph block instrument with combined bell and tapper. Early Walker's type. Absolute double-semaphore (lower-quadrant) block-indicators (top: red/white strip; bottom: white/black strip), mounted (at different levels) on vertical wooden finialled post. This instrument requires a separate commutator-box with bell-key/plunger, and bell-assembly. Later Walker's instruments were rectangular, with the block-indicators at the same level, and a bell-assembly mounted on the top.
