Lithograph, Britannia Tubular Bridge over the Menai Straits taken during its construction in 1848, by S Russell. Depicts the construction of the iron tubes which carried the Chester and Holyhead Railway over the Menai Straits to Anglesey. In the background are the partially completed piers of the bridge, covered in scaffolding. Printed by Day & Son, Lithographers to the Queen. Published by S Russell, 5 Samuel Place, Albany Road, Camberwell, London. 20 February 1849.
