Whole model, scale 1:12, rigged, Mount's Bay (Cornish) lug-sail boat, by John Blewett, Newlyn, Cornwall, England, 1875-1883. In contrast with other South Coast craft generally, Mount's Bay luggers were built double-ended. This both counter-acted the rough Atlantic conditions and enabled a much larger catch. Designed as drifters, these luggers were engaged in the herring, mackerel and pilchard fisheries according to the season.
