60mm frame sample: horse and cart

Made:
1896 in France
maker:
Georges Demeny

60mm frame sample believed to be used by the Demeny/Gaumont Chronophotographe, 1896. Image shows a horse and cart.

In 1896 Georges Demeny redesigned his 1893 camera for Léon Gaumont’s company so it could be adapted for projection, and would take perforated film. The resulting Demeny-Gaumont Chronophotograph 35mm camera projector has a beater movement, invented by Demeny, which could be used for either taking or projecting films. It could project 60mm films, meaning the projected pictures were more detailed.
