Lithograph, Manchester and Leeds Railway, Whiteleys Viaduct, Charleston Curves, 1845. Coloured lithograph depicting the viaduct carrying the Manchester & Leeds Railway over the River Calder near Hebden Bridge. Navvies are working on the line, one carrying a baulk of timber and another wielding a pickaxe. A train is approaching in the distance. A horse tows a canal boat on the river below, as a wagon drawn by a team of horses passes beneath the bridge on the road alongside the river. Drawn and lithographed by A F Tait.
