Lithograph, Olive Mount Cutting, London and North Western Railway, drawn and lithographed by Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait, 1848. Depicts the widening of the cutting, with teams of navvies removing slabs of rock with pickaxes and loading them onto the wagons of a waiting train. In the distance is the steam locomotive. A signalman in a tall hat stands at the other side of the track with a flag in his hand. Next to him is a set of steps cut into the rock, with pipes coming down from above. Text beneath reads "Olive Mount Cutting, L. & N. W. Railway".
