Rigged model, Scale 1:36, of an English Well Smack (after Chapman's Architecture Novalis Mercatoria, 1768), by Major Raban Williams, Ringmore, Devon, England, March 1937. These vessels were used by the fishing fleet of Shetland to bring fish to market as fresh as possible. Therefore they needed to be fast and were built for speed.
