Two loom shuttles, c 18th century. Both are rectangular in section, pointed and tipped with iron at both ends. The yarn is threaded through an ivory eye in the side. The double shuttle (botton) has two pins so as to weave a 2 ply thread. Both shuttles run on rollers to reduce friction. They are of the type of hand loom shuttle designed for use on a fly shuttle loom which was introduced by John Kay in 1733.
