Waterproof smock made from double layer Ventile (a high performance cotton)

Made:
1996 in Tetbury

Waterproof smock made from double layer Ventile (a high performance cotton). The fibres in the outer layer swell when they get wet, preventing further ingress of water. The materials were originally developed for WW2 airmen, and this material was used to make clothes for the British Antarctic Survey.
