'Counting Pane' acrylic knitting 132x145cm showing factors 1-10 in numbers up to 100, 1996.

This stunning piece of acrylic knitting is divided into 100 squares, each representing a number up to 100. The single-digit numbers run from left to right along the top, with 11 to 20 directly below, and so on. Each square is coloured according to the factors of that number. The factor colours run along the top. Prime numbers are easily spotted as they are represented by a solid blue square, being only divisible by 1 and themselves. Expressing mathematical ideas in fibre arts to inspire learning is thriving today. A pioneer was Ada Dietz, who wrote on mathematical weaving in the mid 20th century.
