Conjectural, cut-away model of the early submarine 'Turtle', 1776. Scale about 1:12. Designed by David Bushnell and Phineas Pratt to sink the English fleet in New York Harbour, the 'Turtle' was unsuccessful in an attack on HMS 'Eagle'
