Vitamins and supplements are increasingly popular and a 2022 YouGov poll found that nearly half of UK adults surveyed reported taking them regularly. Vitamin B6 helps the body to use and store energy from protein and carbohydrates in food. It also plays a part in the formation of haemoglobin, the substance in red blood cells that carries oxygen around the body. Many foods naturally contain B6 including poultry, oats and bananas. However, the scientific evidence for the benefits of taking many vitamins is inconclusive. Researchers have found that most people can get all the vitamins and minerals they need from a healthy balanced diet.
