Model 1:100 Ariane V Launcher

Model 1:100 Ariane V Launcher, 1996.

This exhibit is a 1:100 scale model of the Ariane V launcher. Ariane V is the largest of the Ariane launcher fleet developed by the European Space Agency. It can launch a range of spacecraft types. Its payload capacity of almost 7 tonnes to a Geostationary Transfer Orbit and 20 tonnes to Low Earth Orbit will enable it to compete with other companies for the lucrative satellite launch market. This and the nearby ECS satellite model were made for the European Space Agency by a company in Holland. It is typical of the small models used within Agency buildings for background displays on office desks and shelves, in meeting rooms and visitor exhibition areas, and for external use at trade shows and in museums.
