Precision Instrument Maker's Bench Lathe, Lorch Schmidt and Co. 'Triumph' , 1899; having 2" throw and 6" between centres. Complete with headstock, 3 cone pulley, 3 jaw chuck, tail stock and tail stock centre and manual cross slide. Lathe is mounted on two wooden blocks; alternative mounts of two cast pedestals x 150 mm high exist. Lathe is complete with some accessories; This highly significant type of lathe was developed by the Waltham Watch Co of the United States from about 1860 for their own use and later made for sale. It subsequently became a standard type in the toolroom and Instrument work as well as watchmaking.
