Wooden Frame for Model of the Moon
Wooden frame for model of the Moon, 19 feet in diameter (half hemisphere), made by Thomas Dickert in Bonn and based on the lunar maps by Dr Julius Schmidt. Constructed at the University of Bonn in the mid 1850s, the model was later sold and sent to America before being acquired by the Field Museum in Chicago where it was displayed until the 1980s.
