Cabside plaque, Dreadnought Class

Locomotive cabside plaque, brass, containing gold medal, medal depicts head of Queen Victoria with legend 'Victoria Regina', plaque is inscribed round the outside 'Engine 507 "Marchioness of Stafford" - Last of the "Dreadnought" Class'. Medal awarded to the full size locomotive at the International Inventions Exhibition, London, 1885, and subsequently mounted on the r.h. cabside. Removed on scrapping (1905). (see neg 955/81).
