Split-lens eyepiece micrometer
Split-lens eyepiece micrometer by Troughton and Simms acquired for the 1874 transit of Venus and used in Egypt with (Smyth) refracting telescope by Dollond mounted on English type equatorial mounting. It was used by by Captain Browne at Mokattan near Cairo in Egypt with the Smyth telescope to measure the position of Venus during the transit as the planet moved across the Sun in 1874.
