Lithograph Willington Dean Viaduct

Lithograph, The Willington Dean Viaduct, by J W Carmichael and G Hawkins, printed by Day & Hague, 1838. Shows the viaduct with trains, railed track with horse-drawn cart carrying large stones beside the river. Men in rowing boats on the river moving wooden planks. Text:"On the line of the Newcastle, North Shields and Tynemouth Railway. John and Benjamin Green, Architects and Engineers 1838. The arches of this Viaduct (120 feet span each) consist of three ribs formed of Deals with Timber framing above. The Piers and Abutments are of stone. The total length is 1050 feet and the height up to the railway 82 feet." On the back - a handwritten note "To the Curator of the Railway (LNER) Museum York.
