Eloin's Safety lamp, maker Thornton and Sons, Birmingham, marking: makers name, 1853

This oil lamp is similar to inv. 1857-209, with the exception that the glass has an outer shield of mica. An upright screw lock is fitted. This lamp is very quickly extinguished in an explosive mixture, or by jerking.
