Fabric milling machine
- Made:
- 1943 in Liversedge and Yorkshire
Fabric milling machine by John E.P. FURNESS (UK Patent No. 571795) for laboratory use.
This apparatus was developed to test the felting properties of textile fibres. Prior to its invention, difficulty was experienced in testing fibres as they were of an uneven texture - the milling machine was intended to shrink the textile fibres uniformly for testing purposes, to better assess their characteristics and strength.
