Slubbing frame by Platt Brothers of Oldham dated 1901
A slubbing frame is a machine used to straighten out the fibres in cotton prior to spinning. It was a secondary stage in the preparation of cotton for spinning, after it had initially passed through a drawing frame. The finer the cotton thread required, the greater the number of times the cotton was passed through slubbing frames, to make it as refined as possible.
