aluminium dummy used in air-conditioning trials

Made:
1962 in Farnborough

One tin man; aluminium dummy used in air-conditioning trials at R.A.E. Farnborough. c. 1962.

The aluminium cut-outs of human figures were used to test the cabin air-conditioning system during the Concorde development programme. Each one was heated electrically to simulate the heating effect produced by the human body. This allowed the air conditioning system on the airliner to be tested and calibrated correctly.
