Spoke showing a sqaured tongue and tapered tenon. Specimen shows the appearance of a completed spoke ready for the felloes of a 5 foot diameter wheel with a 2 inch dish. The tongue is shaped after spokes are driven.
Dressed for a round tongued spoke. this type is of a later date than the square tongue. Specimen shows a 1 1/2 inch round tongue for a 5 foot diam wheel with a 1 inch dish. The tongue is slightly elliptical at the shoulder.
