Collection of chair-maker's tools

This lathe was used for turning the legs of Windsor chairs by a 'bodger' working in the neighbourhood of High Wycombe. It forms part of a collection of chairmakers' tools, and was in use until around 1953.

Lathe, comprising : 2 uprights; 2 bed shears with 3 bolts etc; 2 braces; treadle frame; 2 poppits complete with iron fittings & wedges; steady with wedge to park swinging piece but no wedge for security to shears
