The Apple Macintosh was the first commercially successful computer to use a Graphical User Interface (GUI), which allowed users to interact with electronic devices using familiar icons and visual indicators rather than just text. The computer was based on the Motorola 68000 microprocessor. This preproduction model was supplied to a major motoring company for assessment trials.
