One engraving of the first Montgolfier balloon of 1783 (Taken from an original copper plate), text in French describes ornamentation of the balloon used by Jean François Pilâtre de Rozier and the Marquis d'Arlandes in ascent from Paris, October 19, 1783, reaching an altitude of 330 feet, the first manned ascent.
