Black-lacquered brass sextant, Admiralty-pattern frame type, with polished brass limb and wooden handle in square wooden case, by Henry Hughes & Son Ltd., 59 Fenchurch St., London, England, 1930. Consists of inlaid silver 127° scale (-5° to 150°) with 1° divisions, drum micrometer (1’) two sets of filter shades (4, all green) and reading magnifier with reflector on a swivel arm (65mm). Fitted with threaded telescope bracket with collimation correction for 148 mm star telescope (inverted image) and 63mm star finder telescope (erect image). Instrument marked 14995 with broad anchor symbol and accompanied with examination certificate dated January 1st 1931 in case with brass plate marked R. Rickman.
