One black and white drawing, 'Short Hydro-Aeroplane flying from Sheerness to Portsmouth, July 1912' / by Donald Maxwell 8 x 10 1/2 inches, 20.3 cm x 26.6 cm, On 5 July 1912 a Short hydro-aeroplane F41 flew non-stop 194 miles from Sheerness to Spithead, landing on the sea after 3 and a half hours, reaching an altitude of 2000 feet, flown by naval Commander Sansom, an aviation pioneer, with a naval mechanic. Also known as the S.41 seaplane manufactured by Short Brothers was a single engined biplane built for the Royal Naval Air Service.
