With automatic washing machines several years away, doing the laundry would have involved much more than just loading and pressing a few buttons for the owner of this early twin-tub machine. But it does have a connection to the gas supply - to heat the water in one tub - and an electric motor to spin-dry the clothes in the other, so this washing machine did offer some convenience.
