


Medal which belonged to Dr J. L. W. Thudichum (1829-1901), commemorating Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia, Germany, dated San Remo 1888. Silvered bronze; 65mm diameter, [sight] 5mm deep. Obverse: head and shoulders relief profile portrait of Friedrich Wilhelm, Crown Prince of Germany, in uniform with drape; edge inscription. Reverse: symbolic female figure, semi-nude, holding anchor with snake entwined, on her left a shield inscribed San Remo 1888. Friedrich Wilhelm wintered in San Remo 1887-1888, Emperor March 1888, reigned 99 days before death; nodule on larynx diagnosed; tracheotomy for cancer performed January 1888
