Medal, London Midland & Scottish Railway gallantry medal, presented to William Graham Day, Stableman, Haydon Square, 10 September 1940, circular medal on blue ribbon, obverse depicts chimneys of locomotives "Rocket", "Jubilee" and "Streamlined" as symbols of progress, superimposed on a background of a rising sun with "LONDON MIDLAND AND SCOTTISH RAILWAY" round the outside, reverse depicts a locomotive driving wheel on a railway track, with a palm branch superimposed on the left with "FOR COURAGE" above, engraved round the edge, with silver oak leaf attached to ribbon, representing award of King's Commendation for Brave Conduct, boxed.
