Tandberg TT-12000 D-MAC encoder rack

Tandberg TT-12000 D-MAC encoder rack, c 1989. D-MAC multiplex analogue component encoder, developed by IBA and constructed by British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) for use by its Movie Channel, 1990-1993.

This is the rack equipment originally used by BSkyB' Movie Channel for translating its programme output into a D-MAC television signal. After encoding, the D-MAC signal was uplinked to BSkyB's Marcopolo 1 Satellite from the BSkyB Earth Station at Chilworth.
