Samuel Arnold Gott was a draughtsman, craftsman and soldier. He was the youngest son of Joseph and Alice Gott. After attending Lees Council School, Gott assisted his father in his joinery and building business. In 1914 he won first prize in the Worshipful Company of Carpenters draughtsmanship competition for his model of a mansard roof truss, built to 1/12th scale. The model was purchased and displayed by the Science Museum. In 1915 Gott joined the army. He was killed in France on 4 April 1917.
